Roy Edward Townsend Sr., 77, passed away peacefully at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital on Sept. 17, 2021. Roy was born Feb. 13, 1944, in Portland, Oregon to Henry Clayton and Beatrice Mae Townsend.

Roy grew up in Aberdeen and raised his family in his childhood home. In high school Roy worked for City Rexall Drug and after graduation in 1962 he went to work at Grays Harbor Paper until closing in 1992.

Roy married Shayne Darlene Williams on Christmas Day 1962 where they were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary before her passing.

Roy belonged to the Church of Christ in Aberdeen and enjoyed fishing, camping and boating.

Roy is survived by his loving children: Debbra (Michael) Erickson of Aberdeen, Tanya (Andy) Anderson of Glendale Arizona, Roy Jr. (Tamara) of Aberdeen and Jennifer Iannello of Aberdeen, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: Marvin and Arnold of Aberdeen and a sister Larlie Mudgett of Hoquiam.

In addition to his wife Shayne he was preceded in death by his brothers Henry “Butch” and Richard and his sister Sandra Lidtka.

At this time there will be no gathering. Arrangements are being made with Harrison Family Mortuary.
