Ronald Eugene Reichter, 68, passed away very peacefully while listening to the music of Frank Sinatra’s “Pennies From Heaven” playing at UW Medical Center, Seattle, Wash., on May 25, 2017. Ron was born on Jan. 22, 1949, to Gene and Mary Reichter (on his mom’s birthday). She said “she would always remember Ron’s birthday because he was a ‘wonderful’ birthday present.” He graduated from Weatherwax High School, Class of ‘67 and had many great memories of that time and friends growing up in Aberdeen. Graduate of University of WA; member Sigma Nu Fraternity; caregiver, various other jobs.

Ron was an ‘avid’ Huskies fan, had a passion for music, the clarinet, especially the Big Band era, i.e., Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller. He volunteered playing his clarinet at various venues, including hospitals and spent many hours just playing for pleasure. Ron loved living in Seattle all these years, walking, swimming, reading, especially history books and never forgot a fact. He was a good debater.

Ron was preceded in death by parents, Mary and Gene Reichter. He is survived by sister, Barbara Godfrey (Jim) of Olympia; nephew, Tyler Godfrey of Tacoma; niece Janelle (Godfrey) Henry (Ash), and great-nephew, Lee Burton Henry, all of Sausalito, Calif.

There will be no service. The family would like to thank the skilled staff at UW Medical Center for their kindness and compassion. Ron had a big laugh, a great smile, a good sense of humor. He never met a person he didn’t enjoy talking to. Ron was a great big brother and will be dearly missed.
