Roger Webster Hoiland, 87, a lifetime Aberdeen resident and area Brick Mason, passed away on June 22, 2022, at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington.

Roger Webster Hoiland, 87, a lifetime Aberdeen resident and area Brick Mason, passed away on June 22, 2022, at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington.

Roger was born on August 18, 1934, in Aberdeen to Egil J. and Verlie (Webster) Hoiland. He graduated from Aberdeen’s Weatherwax High School in 1953.

He was self-employed, owning Hoiland Brick and Tile Co., Hoiland Surplus Sales Co., and Hoiland Marine Service.

Roger’s adventurous life included winning the 1962 motorcycle Wiitamaki Reliability Run, swimming the channel between Ocean Shores and Westport in 1963, and enjoying sports and commercial diving.

Roger is survived by his daughters, Resa Hoiland and Kathy Hoiland, as well as his stepson, Michael (Sharon) Hughes. He was very proud of his grandchildren: Matthew (Gail) Balder, Jennifer Benton, Jessica (David) Rose, Lindsey (Calvin) Balder, and Stephanie (Bryce) Brantley. Roger has two great-granddaughters, Kalia Benton and Kiera Benton. Roger is preceded in death by his wife Arlene Eaton Hoiland, his brother Don Hoiland, and his sister Vivian Oldenkamp.

The family suggests that donations can be made in Roger’s memory, please do so at The Dance Club of Grays Harbor or the Aberdeen Elks.

A graveside inurnment service will be held at Fern Hill Cemetery, 2212 Roosevelt St. Aberdeen, WA; 360-533-2930, on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11a.m.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
