Robert William Graen, 79, and longtime Harborite, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at his McCleary home.

Robert was born on July 20, 1943, in Salem, Oregon, to parents Russell and Jeanette (Statton) Graen. Robert resided in Salem until he graduated from South Salem High School and joined the Navy. His naval career brought him to California and Washington, where he would later settle down. He exited the military in 1965 and moved to North River, Washington. Robert spent the majority of his career in the sales industry.

In 2016, at 73, Robert decided it was time to hang up his hat and enjoy retirement by spending quality time with his family and friends.

Robert was the president of the Elma Senior Center and was a member for many years. One of his most significant accomplishments was 38 years of sobriety. He enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, anything to keep his mind active.

Robert is survived by his children: Jeffrey, Barbara, Tynia and Russ; his sister, Judee Yerion, of Salem, Oregon; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen, Washington.
