Robert Wayne Brown of Aberdeen passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

Robert Wayne Brown of Aberdeen passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Wayne was born Feb. 2, 1935, in Montesano, Wash. to Robert and Amelia (Vezina) Brown and raised in Grays Harbor, Wash.

Wayne proudly served 8 years in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1961.

In 1988 Wayne married Kay Ninemire in Aberdeen. She passed away in 2011.

He had worked for Weyerhaeuser for 42 years when he retired.

Wayne was a member of the Grays Harbor Rifle and Pistol Club, 7 Rivers Black Powder Club and the Mason County Sheriff’s Posse. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and black powder shooting.

Wayne is survived by his loving children daughters Roberta Shipley, Cheryl Lanphere of Mission Viejo, Calif., Renee Handly of Aberdeen and sons Tony Brown of Onalaska and Eric Brown of Port Angeles; numerous grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, July 10, in the chapel at Harrison Family Mortuary, 311 W. Market in Aberdeen. A graveside service with military honors is planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Wynooche Cemetery in Montesano followed by a celebration of his life at the Rotary Log Pavilion in Aberdeen from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
