Robert Lyle Rhoads Jr., 72, passed away peacefully from cancer on Feb. 23, 2022, at home in Emmett, Idaho.

Robert Lyle Rhoads Jr., 72, passed away peacefully from cancer on Feb. 23, 2022, at home in Emmett, Idaho, surrounded by family. He was born April 7, 1949, to Robert Lyle Rhoads Sr. and Lois Adele Kenney of Tacoma, Washington and raised in Minter, Washington.

Rob graduated from Peninsula High School in 1967. He was president of the Rifle Club and a fine marksman. He attended Olympic Junior College in Bremerton, Washington, to achieve his associate degree followed by the University of Washington to obtain his bachelor’s degree in marine biology.

He spent 20 years working in private aquaculture for Domsea Farms raising pan-sized salmon. In 1988, he relocated to Southeast Idaho and oversaw the building of numerous fish hatcheries. In 1991, Rob and his family moved to Ocean Shores, Washington, taking a position with the Quinault Indian Nation as a fisheries manager. He was responsible for the construction and operation of hatchery sites. In his spare time Rob enjoyed archery hunting, fishing, side-by-side exploring, gardening, camping and traveling. On his 70th birthday, Rob chose to be baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness.

Rob and Dorothy both retired in 2011 and moved to Emmett, Idaho, to be closer to their family. They enjoyed travelling to the Caribbean and ended up as snowbirds in Arizona.

Rob was preceded in death by his father Robert Rhoads Sr., mother Lois Rhoads, and younger brother Ronald Rhoads.

Rob is survived by his wife Dorothy Rhoads of 50 years, brother-in-law Kenneth Denton, son Peter Rhoads, daughter Andrea Day, daughter-in-law Traci Rhoads, son-in-law Gene Day, four grandchildren: Anthony Avery, Austin Rhoads, Levi Day and Emma Rhoads, two great-grandchildren: Parker and Dawson Avery and his best buddy, Willy (the dog).

Memorial services will be held online via Zoom meeting, at 11 a.m. Saturday March 5, 2022. Please contact the Potter Funeral Chapel of Emmett at 208-365-4491 for additional details.

Following the memorial service, a celebration of life reception will be held 1 p.m. at the Willow Grove Event Venue, 4131 W Central Road, Emmett, Idaho.
