Richard Roller of Westport, Washington died Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Roolan Health Center in Olympia from complications of pneumonia. Dick was born in Tacoma, Washington to Emil Roller and Mabel Esther Jaygo Aug. 15, 1934.

After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1952, Dick joined the Air Force and served four years specializing in radar repair. After leaving the Air Force he was hired at Boeing and there he met the love of his life Jaclyn Bates. The two were married in 1957 and had two children.

Dick’s career at Boeing spanned 33 years, 20 of them spent doing research and development on the Minuteman Program. With his job taking the family all over the United States and twice to Japan, he ended up back in Everett supervising on the 747 and 767 Aircraft Lines and retired to Westport in 1990.

After retirement Dick spent many years as a very active volunteer and advocate for the Westport/Grayland Chamber of Commerce helping to coordinate events and train volunteers in the Visitor Information Center. He also served as Judge Advocate for the VFW Post #3057, served on the Westport Planning Commission and served two years on the Westport City Council. He was an avid reader and loved to surf the net.

Dick leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Jaclyn at the family home in Westport. Also surviving are son Richard (Mike) and wife Nancy Roller of Orting, Washington , daughter Cris Lynn and husband Guy Wuethrich of Santa Maria, California, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Military service will be held on Wednesday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
