Richard ‘Grizz’ McLaughlin

Lifelong Hoquiam resident Richard “Grizz” McLaughlin passed away at his home on Friday, July 9, 2021. He was 69. Richard was born Jan. 9, 1952 in Aberdeen, Washington to Harold and Margaret (Key) McLaughlin.

Richard graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1970 and attended Grays Harbor College. He had worked as an electrician at Weyerhaeuser Lumber Mill in Aberdeen for 25 years when he retired in 2007.

On April 27, 1975, Richard married Marta L. Armstrong in Hoquiam. She survives him at the family home.

In addition to his loving wife Marta he is also survived by his children: Kelly L. McLaughlin of Hoquiam and Ty M. McLaughlin of Rochester, Washington; two brothers: Gary and Pat McLaughlin both of Aberdeen; four grandchildren: Zachary McLaughlin, Xyan Venegas, Steele and Shiloh McLaughlin Pinter and great-grandson Giovanni Venegas.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his son Gene D. McLaughlin, brother H. Mark McLaughlin and two sisters: Mardonna McLaughlin and Peggy McLaughlin (who passed away as an infant).

Donations are suggested to North Beach PAWS in lieu of condolences.
