Lifelong Aberdeen resident Rebecca “Becky” Jean Carossino, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023 at her home in Olympia.

She was born in Aberdeen, Washington on May 13, 1952, to Emily and Leonard Airhart. In 1972, she married her sweetheart John Carossino at St. Mary’s Church.

Always involved in her children’s lives, Becky was active both as a scout leader and in the PTA. She enjoyed line dancing, gardening, clam digging, and camping with her family at Kalaloch, in the San Juans, or on Banks Lake in Eastern Washington.

Becky started her leadership early in life as “Little Miss Aberdeen” around age 5. After graduating from Weatherwax High School in 1970, she owned and managed two businesses with her husband: J&B Enterprises, a newspaper distributor for Grays Harbor County, and Big Mouth John’s Tackle Traders. She later worked for Whiteside’s Funeral Home in Aberdeen and had experience working in the hearing aid industry and children’s advocacy.

Her true passion, however, was volunteering. She served on the board of the Friends of the Aberdeen Museum and was the most remarkable fundraiser in their history, raising over $20,000 by organizing the Weatherwax All-Class Reunion in 2018 and the Myrtle Street Dance in 2019. She also volunteered for numerous booster groups, beach clean-ups, and was a member of the Aberdeen Bloom Team planting flowers and caring for the city’s downtown area.

Becky built a community of friends wherever she went, drawing people in with her extraordinary zest for life. She loved to winter at Havasu Springs in Arizona and Big Bend in Parker, California, a tradition she began with her husband and then continued for the rest of her life.

In 2022, Becky moved to downtown Olympia across from the marina. There she made some of her greatest friendships and treasured all the fun she had with the Harbor Heights community.

Becky left this world as her friends and family knew her, with a big smile on her face, ready for the next adventure. She looks forward to rejoining her loving husband John for more laughs, good times and maybe a Margarita. She is survived by children Lori and Will and grandchildren Grace and Charlie.

Memorials may be made to the Friends of the Aberdeen Museum “Legacy Fund.”
