Raymond Merle Sexton passed away peacefully on Thursday May 28, 2020 at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation at the age of 89.

Raymond Merle Sexton passed away peacefully on Thursday May 28, 2020, at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation at the age of 89. He was born to Levi Sexton and Clara Root on Oct. 19, 1930, in Canton, Oklahoma.

Raymond was raised in Southard, Oklahoma, and graduated from Southard High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. He married Peggy Childs June 24, 1949, in the years to come they had three children. Ray moved his family to Kelso in 1955. He worked for a few years there before moving his family once again to Hoquiam. He worked for the Burlington Railroad for 30 years and part time for Sears.

Ray loved sports, he was an avid bowler, good at horseshoes, played slow pitch for the Smokeshop and was a good basketball player. He truly enjoyed going to the high school sporting events with his son-in-law Jack.

After the death of his first wife he met and married Frances Dhooghe. They truly enjoyed 32 years of marriage, they traveled to different places, bowled in leagues together, loved going to Reno and played their favorite card game every day they were together.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Frances Sexton, of Montesano, Washington; his son, Mahlon (Felicia) Sexton of Everett; his daughter Charlotte Sexton of Tacoma, Washington; sister, Ruby Burn of Jamestown, New York; his step daughter, Lynn (Jack) Adams of Aberdeen; six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-stepchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Raymond Jr. (Oogie), his brother, Elvin Sexton, his sister, Helen Roberson, and his stepson Walter Dhooghe.
