Randy Joe Glerup

Randy Joe Glerup was born Dec. 27, 1960, in Burns, Oregon, to George and Nola “Jean” Glerup. Unfortunately, on June 19, 2021, while surrounded by his wife and daughters, Randy unexpectedly passed away as a result of heart failure complications at Providence St. Vincent’s Hospital in Beaverton, Oregon.

As a high school freshman, Randy met Barbara “Barb” Johnson. She was his one and only true love and on Feb. 19, 1982, officially became his wife. Shortly after being married, on Sept. 19, 1983, Randy and Barb welcomed their first daughter, Jennifer. Following, Randy and Barb welcomed a sweet baby boy, Matthew, who unfortunately made his way to heaven immediately upon his birth on April 6, 1986. Soon thereafter, on Dec. 10, 1988, Randy and Barb welcomed their second daughter, Jamie into this world.

While living in Aberdeen, Randy followed in his father’s footsteps and started working as a laborer for Rognlin’s Inc. After deciding to move his family to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987, Randy worked for the Las Vegas Valley Water District as a lead maintenance mechanic until deciding to move back to the Harbor in 2004 where he did gutter work, tiling, general construction, and most of all he was our #1 fix-it guy. There wasn’t a job or favor that Randy would say no to. He gave when he had nothing to give. A jokester by nature and the life of every party, Randy was loved by many and liked by all that knew him.

To his daughters, Randy could walk on water and was the best “girl dad” they could’ve ever asked for. From attending Jenn’s cheerleading events, to standing next to the softball dugouts while Jamie followed her love of the game, he never missed an event, and was most often the loudest dad in the stands. Randy’s next loves were his two grandchildren, Madelynn and Drake. If his daughters thought they had him wrapped around his fingers, it was a completely different story when it came to those two.

However, nothing or nobody could compete with his first love, his wife, Barb. They were “textbook” high school sweethearts and had just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Nobody ever gets it right all the time, but they never failed at showing those around them that they still put each other first above all else.

Randy will forever be missed by those who knew and loved him, and his passing will leave a void that won’t ever be filled.

Randy is survived by his wife Barb, daughters Jennifer (Jeff) of Aberdeen and Jamie (Brittan) of Lacey, mother Jean (Carl) Hagen of Elma, sisters Sarah (Rick) Murray of Aberdeen and Kellie (Jim) Meers of Aberdeen, grandmother Vada of Oregon, aunt Ginger (Gary) Jackson of Oregon, uncle Roger (Pam) Glerup of Oregon, great-aunt Bonnie Albers of Halfway, Missouri, grandchildren Madelynn and Drake of Aberdeen, as well as multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Randy is preceded in death by his father George, son Matthew, brother Melvan, grandmother Ruby, aunt Nell (Ernie) Oleachea, and uncle Walt.

A celebration of life will be held at the River of Life Church in Cosmopolis, Washington on Saturday June 26, 2021, at 11 a.m. with a small reception to follow at the church.
