Poung Jo Sem, 51, received her wings on Jan. 12, 2022 after a short battle with liver cancer while at Virginia Mason in Seattle. She was surrounded by her loved ones before she took flight.

Jo (as she is called by those who knew her) has been a resident of Aberdeen since 1983 when her parents decided to move from Olympia to Aberdeen.

Jo lived her life helping others. She always had an accepting smile for everyone. There was no strangers in her life, just a friend she hadn’t yet met.

In the last year and a half, Zayden and Adonis blessed Jo into Grandmahood. These two boys made her eyes twinkle more and her laughter more joyous.

She is survived by her daughters, Sovanny and Sunya, and son, Lionel. She is also survived by her parents, and three sisters.

Jo was predeceased by her oldest son, Nicky and her two younger brothers, Savourn and Chhalee.

The family held her Cambodian ceremony on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022. Her viewing and funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at 9 a.m. at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen. All those that would like to say their last goodbyes are more than welcome to come.

Until we meet again Jo! We love you!
