Long time Aberdeen resident Peter M. Rattie, 84, passed away Oct. 31, 2018, in Providence Centralia Hospital.

Pete was a native of Aberdeen, attended Aberdeen schools, and graduated from JM Weatherwax “Aberdeen” High School in 1953. He attended his 65th class reunion in August of this year.

Pete graduated from Grays Harbor Community College before joining the army. He served four years before returning to college. He attended Western Washington University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education and later went on to earn his Master’s Degree with Administrative Credentials at the University of Oregon.

Pete spent his entire career in education, both as a teacher and as an administrator in the Aberdeen School District, where he dedicated himself to his students, his staff, and his community.

He loved the Bobcats, the Huskies, the Seahawks, the Summit Lake Otters, and John Wayne movies. But most of all, he loved his family and friends.

Pete is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter Terri (Bader) and husband Dave; his son Dennis and wife Liz; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Bates) and husband Alex, Molly (Fry) and husband Tyler, Emma and Ethan Rattie, and four great-granddaughters. Pete has many extended family, as well, including numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved friends he considered family.

He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at The River’s Edge restaurant at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course.
