Pearl Evelyn King Edwards

Pearl Edwards, formerly of Aberdeen andTumwater, Washington, and more recently, Myrtle Point, Oregon, passed away in her sleep on Saturday, May 29, 2021.

Pearl was born Sept. 24, 1925, to Clyde and Johnnie King. Her mother passed away when she was three, and Thomas and Louise Armstrong helped her father raise her and her younger sister Lois.

Pearl was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church.

Her professional life was mostly dedicated to the medical profession as the office manager for several physician offices.

She had a deep love for learning and religion.

In her mid-50s she enrolled at The Evergreen College to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in religious studies and later pursued a Master’s Degree from Seattle University.

Pearl was ordained to the office of elder in the Church of Christ 1986, and later to the office of high priest in 1994. In 1995 she was ordained to the office of evangelist and served in that role until her superannuation in 2008. Over the course of her ministry, Pearl served as pastor of the Montesano and Centralia congregations as well as district president for the Southwest Washington District. Pearl loved to travel, and tell stories of her adventures in Central America, Israel and various places in Mexico where she and Warren spent the winter for almost 17 years.

Pearl is survived by her two daughters, Noel Walker and Kay Heikkila and her son-inlaw Paul Heikkila. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years Warren and two sons, William and Richard. Pearl is also survived by granddaughter Danelle Heikkila and husband Cliff Shaw and great-grandchildren Alaric and Annika, granddaughter Tanya Heikkila and husband Todd Ely, and great-grandchildren Claire and Issac, granddaughter Dena Pearl and husband Armando Puga Delarasa and great-grandchildren Marisol, Armando,and Alexander and great-great-grandson Alexander, grandson Bredan Edwards and his wife Trisha and great-granddaughters Ellis Lyn and Vivian Lucille, granddaughter Johnnie Djiedziak and her husband Brett Dziedziak and their daughters Billie Warner and Angelina Dziedziak, grandson Daryl Walker and his wife Melissa, great-grandsons Micheal and Nathan and great-granddaughters Kathy and Gwen and great-great grandsons Killian and Avril and grandson Joel Walker.

Pearl’s life will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. on June 29, 2021 at Colonial Estates at 3700 14th Ave SE, Olympia, Washington. Please feel invited to join Pearl’s family for delicious refreshments provided by the Edwards/Miller/Villa families. Billie and Pam Warner are honored to host the venue.
