Lifelong resident of Hoquiam, Patty Anderson Hubble, passed away Jan. 1, 2025, at Summit Pacific in Elma. She was born in Aberdeen on June 1, 1936, at St. Joseph’s Hospital to Dale and Jenny (Toucher) Anderson. She attended Central Grade School in kindergarten and first grade; St. Mary’s in Hoquiam 2nd through the 8th then Hoquiam Jr. High School and graduated as Salutatorian of Hoquiam High’s Class of 1954.
She went to work the Monday after graduation for Rayonier Incorporated in the office at 8th & Levee Street in Hoquiam; first in the accounting department then Central Engineering and finally for Northwest Forest Operations.
Patty married her high school sweetheart, Terry Hubble on June 15, 1956, at Our Lady of Good Help Church while he was on leave from the US Navy, having joined in June, 1955. She stayed home to continue with Rayonier while he finished his enlistment.
They were blessed with four children: Terri, Tim, Joan and Patty Jean. While they were young, Patty stayed home with the family and babysat for other working moms in the neighborhood. The family enjoyed great times camping in their trailer and spending time at their cabin on Mason Lake.
Patty went back to work at Rayonier part-time in 1972 for Central Engineering, then full time for Northwest Forest Operations in 1977, retiring in 1991. After retirement, she and Terry enjoyed several cruises, including the Panama Canal, Mexico and Alaska, four Hawaiian trips, three to Branson, and a train trip across Canada all with good friends. Patty also enjoyed trips with her lady friends to Europe and Asia.
Music was a big part of her life, having played the organ at church for over 70 years, singing with the Civic Choir, the Lyric Singers, and then a group of nine women singing barbershop harmony. Later on, she and some friends formed a ladies three-part harmony choir at church and sang there together for 17 years. Beginning in 2010, a men’s choir formed and Patty served as their accompanist for 12 years. She enjoyed all the groups immensely.
She loved working in her yard and feeding the birds and deer. Her daily walks were therapy for mind and body. She also spent many hours shuffling music and practicing at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Terry at the family home; daughters Terri Anderson (Chris); Joan Cearley (Greg) and Patty Edenstrom (Grant); eight grandchildren Nicholas Kitchen (Amy), Carissa Hoppie (Chris), Ryan Cearley (Jordann), Alex Anderson (Ellen), Jenni McPeake (DJ), Sara Cearley (Caulin), Alyssa Olin (Jackson), Ashton Edenstrom and 14 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Don Hubble (Janet); sister-in-law Barbara Summerfield (John); nephews Scott and Todd Hubble, Brant and Jason Bargewell and many cousins.
