Patricia Weatherwax Mickelson

Patricia Weatherwax Mickelson was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Aberdeen, Washington.

Patricia Weatherwax Mickelson was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Aberdeen, Washington, the daughter of Carl and Verna Arthaud Weatherwax. She passed away on Dec. 17, at 98 years of age.

Patti graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen in 1942 and attended Washington State College where she became a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.

On Nov. 21, 1945, Patti married Stanley G. Mickelson of Hoquiam, Washington. They lived in Hoquiam, before moving to Bellevue in 1955. In 1958, they moved to Auburn, and then to Vancouver, Washington in 1967. In 1974, they moved back to the Seattle area, living in Des Moines.

They enjoyed vacationing every summer at the family cabin at Lake Quinault, which is now on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of Interior. There they spent much time fishing, hiking, sailing and swimming while all the time enjoying their grandchildren.

It was always a pleasure for Patti to follow the athletic achievements of their sons and grandchildren as well as looking forward to their bridge club meetings. Patti was a member of Southminister Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, a deacon and an active member of P.E.O. Federal Way.

She is survived by two sons: David of Bellevue and William of Kent; daughters-in-law: Denise and Catherine; grandchildren: Erik, Anna, Daniel, Stephen and Paul; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington on Jan. 4, 2023.
