Norman Francis Abbott, 66, Yelm resident and automotive technician in the Tacoma area, died Friday, June 9, 2017, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.

Norman was born on May 22, 1951, in Aberdeen to Marion Francis and Luella Mae (Allen) Abbott. He grew up in Montesano and graduated from Montesano High School. He then joined the U.S. Army and served our country for 10 years. Following his discharge, he moved to Tacoma, where he graduated from Clover Park Voc-Tech with a degree in Automotive Technology.

He worked for various establishments in the Tacoma area including EconoLube in Lakewood, Wash.

He moved to Yelm three years ago to be with his son and grandchildren. Norman loved tinkering in the shop, playing drums, riding mountain bikes and fixing watches.

Norman is survived by three sons: Paul Abbott of Yelm, Ricky (Beth) Abbott of Yelm and Daniel (Carlie) Abbott of Lacey; two grandchildren: Sari and Benjamin Abbott; and a sister Wanda Jean Devres of Alberton, Mont. He was preceded in death by a brother Don Abbott.

There will be a graveside service for Norman on Monday, June 19, at Noon in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, Wash.
