On the night of July 8, 2022, Nancy Anne Johnson, 69, peacefully left this world after her battle with rheumatoid arthritis and cancer.

Nancy was born on June 3, 1953, to Donald and Patsy (Lang) Johnson in East Hoquiam, Washington. She lived most of her life in Grays Harbor County except a few years in Ellensburg in the early ‘70s. Throughout Nancy’s career she became an accomplished and revered Executive Administrative Assistant to the Executive Committee of Lamb-Grays Harbor for over 25 years. She started her career at Anderson and Middleton in 1971 and completed it in real estate in 2020.

Nancy excelled in all the tasks she enjoyed the most. In the ‘70s it was softball and clam digging when she lived at the beach. Then in the ‘80s and ‘90s it was grouse, chanterelles, and tuna while residing in Bear Gulch. Nancy was never to be out done when consuming her weight in crab or clams which she was the master at cooking and cleaning.

Nancy was an avid cowgirl. She spent as much time as possible in the saddle. Nancy was “bonded and cursed by the horse affliction” from birth. She was an active member of the Grays Harbor Saddle Club (GHSC) and Washington State Horsemen (WSH) Competitive Trail Riding Division for over 40 years as a competitor and judge. She participated in the 1989 State Bicentennial Wagon Train and the John Wayne annual pioneer wagon train. Nancy won many awards over the years to include her WSH Trail Ride High Point with Miss Crescent Colleen in 1995. For many years Nancy rode competitively and for pleasure with her father, then in the end of the ’90s till her retirement she rode with a select group of women. Nancy and her group of “cowgirls” traveled all over the state of Washington and explored every inch they could by horseback taking in all the sights.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Pat Johnson, her brother Jeff Johnson and her sister Janet Johnson, who had just passed weeks before on June 14, 2022.

Nancy is survived by her nieces, Krista (Johnson)Popish of Colorado, and Angela (Johnson) Harris of Washington.

As per Nancy’s wishes, no services are scheduled. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
