Michael Timothy Fields of Chehalis, Wash., passed away unexpectedly April 25, 2017.

Born March 19, 1960, in Olympia, Wash., Michael graduated from Tenino High School in 1978. In 2006, he received his Associates of Technical Arts in Diesel Equipment Technology from Centralia Community College. He worked as a reserve police officer for the city of McCleary, until accepting a position at the Olympia Brewery. Later he worked for the Centralia School District as a bus mechanic, and most recently for the city of Tacoma at the Waste Water Treatment facility.

Michael is survived by his soul mate, Tami Hodgins, his step-children (Johanna and Anthony), his mother Evelyn Fields, siblings (Darrell Fields, Rhonda Yandle, Darlene Garlick, and his twin Myron Fields). Michael was a beloved friend to his numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael will be remembered as a kind, caring, and generous man, who gave freely and often to others. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was hiking, fishing, crabbing, paragliding, or riding motorcycles.

One of his favorite charitable activities was participating in the annual Olympia Toy Run where he gave generously to less fortunate children.

Michael and his brother-in-law, Steve Garlick, were inspirational in starting the Grays Harbor Search and Rescue.

Memorial services will be held May 6, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Sticklin Funeral Chapel, 1437 South Gold Street, Centralia, WA. Burial services will be held for immediate family at Elma Masonic Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, Wash.
