Michael Stephen Curry, beloved husband of Sigrid Curry, passed away on Aug. 28, 2017. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Michael is survived by two sons, Ralph (wife, Arlene) and Howard (wife, Karla), his sister, Mary Elizabeth Street (husband, Jerry), niece, Julie Storr-Street (wife, Nannette), two nephews, Stephen Street (wife, Natalie) and Uwe Laut, four granddaughters, one grandson, two grandnieces and a grandnephew, other family members, many devoted friends and the puppy Natasha.

Born on Nov. 17, 1939, in Aberdeen, Wash., Michael joined the United States Army at 18 years old. During his first active duty tour in Germany, Michael met his future wife, Sigrid, in Worms. After serving his country honorably for 21-1/2 years, Michael retired from the military with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CW2). Michael took advantage of the G.I. Bill, earned an Associate Degree from Grays Harbor Community College and subsequently worked for both Thurston and Grays Harbor Counties as a Building Inspector. He was also a builder, a maker and a master craftsman, spending a lifetime with Sigrid restoring the family’s heirloom home.

This is the framework of Michael Stephen Curry’s life. What cannot be described but what will be most remembered was the way he conducted his life with caring, integrity, friendship, and love. Mike was a wonderful husband, a loving father, a supportive uncle, and a doting grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at the family residence. Contact Sigrid Curry via Facebook or phone for details. Please donate to the Montesano Fire Department or Hospice – Harbor Home Health in lieu of flowers or gifts.
