Melissa Kay Catron, age 29, a resident of Olympia, passed on July 12, 2018, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

Melissa Kay Catron, age 29, a resident of Olympia, passed on July 12, 2018, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Melissa was born on Aug. 26, 1988, in Olympia to Daniel E. and Kay C. (Ellis) Catron. She was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 2006.

She attended South Puget Sound Community College where she received her Associate Degree in Arts. She later returned where she studied to be a dental assistant.

Surviving relatives include her parents, Dan and Kay of Aberdeen; a brother, Ryan Catron of Ellensburg, paternal grandmother, Virginia Catron of Hoquiam and maternal grandparents, John and Sharon Johnson of Aberdeen; Uncle Ken and Aunt Teresa of Gold Bar, Aunt Sue and Uncle Bob of McCleary, Aunt Jackie and Uncle Richard of Hoquiam; and cousins. She is also survived by her beloved dogs April, Django, and Princess. She is preceded in death by her Papa Ed, Grandpa Bruce Ellis, Uncle J. Michael Catron, Aunt Virginia Ann (Sandy) Crabb, and Cousin Michael E. Catron-Hammer.

Melissa loved spending time with her family and numerous friends as well as her dogs. She enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and, boating. She loved all sports, participating in swim team, basketball, soccer, and cheerleading. Her true passion was fastpitch, which she played all through childhood, high school, and into college. She also played on various travel teams where she made numerous lifelong friends. She was known for her strong work ethic always working multiple jobs.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Melissa Kay Catron Scholorship Fund in C/O Newrizons Federal Credit Union, 120 Firman Ave. Hoquiam, WA, 98550 or to Cornerstone Community Church, 2008 Sumner Avenue, Aberdeen, WA, 98520.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at the Cornerstone Community Church in Aberdeen. A potluck fellowship will follow at the church. There will be a private urn committal at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
