Maxine Alice Tesia, 95, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, Washington, passed away on Feb. 24, 2021, at G.H. Community Hospital.
Maxine was born on March 24, 1925, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Waldo and Margaret Perry. Her family moved to Tacoma, Washington where she graduated from Stadium High School. Years later the family moved to Aberdeen, Washington where Maxine joined them.
She graduated from G.H. Business College. She did clerical work at St. Joseph’s Hospital after school. Upon graduating she worked as a secretary at the PUD.
She met her husband Mitchell Tesia at Business College, and they were married in 1947, in St. Mary’s Church. She and Mitchell raised four daughters. Maxine was a loving and caring mother, and the house was always filled with neighborhood kids. When her daughters were grown she went to work for Steven’s Elementary School in Aberdeen as a librarian. She retired after many enjoyable years.
Maxine enjoyed gardening. Her backyard looked like a nursery with flowers blooming and vegetables growing. She enjoyed sewing, and loved to entertain and cook for others. She especially liked her casino outings.
She was a charter member in St. Theresa’s Guild of St. Mary’s Church, and was a member of the Croation lodge (Zrinski Frankopan).
Maxine is survived by three children, Mary Tesia of Kirkland and Judy (Vince) Aleksey of Montesano, and granddaughter Shari (Donald) Warren of Shoreline. She was preceded in death by her husband Mitchell, daughter Janet and sister Barbara Bottiger.
A graveside service was held on Friday Feb. 26, 2021, at Fern Hill Cemetery.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
