83 years of age, and a lifetime Harborite, died on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020

Maude L. “Ginger” Peterson, 83 years of age, and a lifetime Harborite, died on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born on February 20, 1936, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Lloyd F. and Mary Elizabeth (Stenno) Watley.

She was raised and attended school in Aberdeen.

Growing up she enjoyed playing baseball and football. Later she coached baseball and visited casinos, where she played bingo and keno. She enjoyed helping to raise and babysit her grandkids.

Following her formal education, she worked at Jack’s Drive-in, at an area laundry mat, at the local bakery and as a cook at the Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen for 42 years, from 1972 until 2012.

In 1957, Ginger Watley was married to LeRoy A. Peterson in the Calvary Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and the couple made their home in Hoquiam. Her travels had taken her to California, Mexico and Texas.

Her survivors include; one son, Danny Peterson and his wife, Cheryl of Hoquiam; her daughters, Kathy Kelley of Prosser, Diana Wallin and her husband, Eric of Port Orchard, Dawn Peterson of Central Park and Dina Cokeley (Harry Thayer) of Aberdeen; one sister, Donna Billingsley of Camden, Arkansas; her grandchildren, David Gill (Amelia), Chad Wallin (Lauren), Ryan Wallin (Krystel), Wayne Giberson, Brad Giberson, Sara Stanaway (Ed), Shane Peterson (Elizabeth), Scott Cokeley, Tracey M. Lutton, Shaylee Beckman and Nattilie Bates as well as many great-grandchildren and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catterson of Hoquiam.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, Feb. 10, 2020, at the Hoquiam Sunset Memorial Park.
