Maryjane (Barnhart) Ames, 81 years of age and a resident of Aberdeen, Wash., for the past 22 years died on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma, Wash.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1935, in Cambridge, Ohio to Clyde Barnhart and Fannie Clark. She later moved to Park City, Mont., and married Joseph S. Ames on Sept. 1, 1956. They lived in Montana until August of 1976, then moved to Fresno, Calif., in 1976.
Maryjane was a manager at Denny’s restaurant for several years until they moved to Aberdeen, Wash., in June of 1995. Her husband, Joseph, later passed away on Dec. 17, 2003.
Maryjane lived with her daughter Vickie Ames and granddaughter Mariah Garcia, of Aberdeen, Wash. She enjoyed going to the senior center to play “BINGO” and loved playing Aggrevation, as well and going shopping and getting her nails done with friends and family. She also enjoyed crocheting and doing bead art work.
Maryjane is survived by a daughter, Vickie Ames of Aberdeen, Wash.; two sons Tim Ames of Livingston, Mont. and Paul Ames of Aberdeen; one sister, Evelyn Rolland of Montana, and a brother Bill Barnhart of Montana. The extended family includes four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph S. Ames; two sons, Steven Ames, Andrew Ames; two granddaughters, Susan and Jaclyn Ames; three sisters; Mae, Dorothy, and Linda; two brothers Clem and Clyde Jr.; and her mother Fannie and father Clyde Sr.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 3101 Cherry St. Hoquiam, WA 98550. Potluck followed.
