Mary (Laux) Long of Aberdeen passed away at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center on Oct. 27, 2024, at the age of 92.

Mary (Laux) Long of Aberdeen passed away at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center on Oct. 27, 2024, at the age of 92.

She was born on Sept. 4, 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to parents Fredrick Laux and Katie (Rader) Laux.

Mary was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, but over the years, she resided in Seattle, Port Townsend, Port Angeles, Bellingham, Everett, and Clallam Bay before settling in Grayland in 1972 when her husband retired from the Coast Guard.

She married the love of her life, Thurley Long, in Seattle on Aug. 7, 1954. Together, they lived in many coastal towns where Thurley was stationed and after retirement worked on the bogs farming cranberries for many years. Mary enjoyed gardening, painting, bowling, and trying her luck in the casinos. But her most favorite thing of all was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her son, Fredrick Sylvester (Cindy) Long of Grayland; daughters, Marian Jean Long of McCleary and Trish Ann (Mike) Whalen of Aberdeen; grandchildren: Trisha Lamb, Kenneth Wolford, Christopher Sears, Amanda Ashby, Jillian Jay, Julianna “Juge” Long, James Long, Jacque Ashby and Aaron Brockhoff; and great-grandchildren, Eliza Lamb, Kennah Lamb, Cayden Ashby, Kylee Ashby, Macie Ashby, Danner Ashby, Stormie Brockhoff, Gage Brockhoff, Millie Jay and Winnie Jay.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thurley Dean Long, and her parents, Fredrick and Katie (Rader) Laux.
