Mary Latteen (Wilson) Sandquist, a longtime Aberdeen resident, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2020 at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam.

Mary Latteen (Wilson) Sandquist, a longtime Aberdeen resident, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2020, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam. She was 78.

Mary was born in Centralia, Washington, in 1941, to Marvin and Edith Wilson. She was raised in Hoquiam with her brothers, Marvin and Mike, and her sister, Margie. A graduate of Hoquiam High School, she took classes at Grays Harbor College before beginning a family. She married Robert Larry Sandquist of Aberdeen in 1962, and they were married until his passing in 2018. She worked as a homemaker, home day care operator, and on several kitchen staffs, including Pacific Care Center, before retirement.

As a member of the Aberdeen Eagles, Grays Harbor Moose Lodge, Aberdeen Rebekah Lodge #240 and the Hoquiam VFW, Mary was active and had many friends. She was a Bluebirds Camp Fire Leader, a concessions volunteer for Little League baseball, a room mother and PTA member at Robert Gray Elementary School, and a member of the bowling league in Aberdeen for many years. She taught Sunday school at Our Saviours Lutheran Church. Playing bingo, cribbage, and pinochle, watching sports events, and traveling to visit grandchildren were her favorite pastimes. She loved to watch the Seattle Mariners and the Gonzaga Bulldogs mens basketball team.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Robert Larry Sandquist; her brothers, Marvin and Mike Wilson; her sister, Margie Constantine and her first husband, Arne Soderberg. Surviving are her children: Ron (Nancy) Soderberg of Montesano, Cindie Soderberg of Aberdeen, Robert (Ammie) Sandquist Jr. of Aberdeen and Jackie (Josh) Thomson of Twisp; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held at the Aberdeen VFW on March 21, 2020, at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen.
