Marty L. Ayres passed away on Jan. 5, 2023.

Marty L. Ayres passed away on Jan. 5, 2023. He was born Sept. 19, 1963, in Seattle, Washington to Robert and Verna Ayres. He was raised in Pamona, California, graduated from Garey High School in 1981, and went on to CalPoly State College.

Marty was a Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force from September 1982 to September 1988, serving as a fire protection specialist. He also worked for Vaughan Chopper Pumps from 1991-2019, before retiring due to Alzheimer’s. He was a deacon and Teens for Christ leader for South Aberdeen Baptist Church and in the past volunteered for Brady Fire Department.

On Dec. 5, 1992, Marty married Kristi Kersh at Aberdeen Calvary Lutheran Church. They were married for 30 years.

Marty’s greatest joy in life was his family and spending time with them. He also enjoyed baseball, fishing, biking, racquetball, running, playing the guitar, poetry, worship team, boating, hiking and anything to do with the outdoors.

Marty is survived by his wife Kristi; son Christopher (Tammera) Ayres of Oakville, Washington; daughter Karmen (Devin) Warner of Redmond, Oregon; brothers Robert (Cheryl) Ayres of Phoenix, Arizona, and Christopher (Paula) Ayres of Fontana, California; sister Cynthia (Dan) Ayres-Disrud, Washougal, Washington; and grandchildren Wyatt Ayres and Lyla and Gracie Warner. He is preceded in death by both his parents and his brother Dana Ayres.

A celebration of life will be held on Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at South Aberdeen Baptist Church.
