A military honors service for Martin Menjares will be held at graveside in Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash., at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Honors will be given by the U.S. Army, Ft. Lewis and the Veterans Service Organization of the National Cemetery.

Martin Menjares, 70, died at his home in Elma, Thursday, July 6, 2017. He was born in Lubbock, Texas, Nov. 26, 1946, the son of Thomas and Marta (Cantu) Menjares. He came with the family to Seattle as a child and graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle. He had been a roofer since the age of 10 and belonged to the United Union of Roofers, Local 54, Seattle.

He had lived in Tenino and on May 2, 2013, he married Sandra A. Astry in Olympia. He would move to Elma.

Martin enjoyed gambling, Bingo, going to garage sales, eating and old cars.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, Elma; a daughter: Nicole Lee, Indio, Calif.; numerous step-sons and daughters; three sisters: Helen Vargas and Lidia Gongore, both of Seattle and a twin-sister, Martha Guerrero, Auburn, Wash. There are also two grandchildren.
