Marilyn Jean Redding passed away at her home on July 14, 2023 with her family members by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Marilyn Jean Redding passed away at her home on July 14 , 2023 with her family members by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Marilyn was born in Holdredge, Nebraska April 8, 1938. The family moved to Hoquaim, Washington in 1950. Marilyn attended school in Hoquaim and graduated from Hoquaim High School in 1955. Marilyn later attended college to study music.

Marilyn and Jim were married in 1980 in Honolulu, Hawaii and is survived by her husband Jim at the family home. Marilyn was proceeded in death by her parents Lou and Gladys Rager of Hoquiam and brothers Clint Rager and wife Dorothy of Hoquaim and Margil Rager and wife Suzie of Holdredge, Nebraska. Marilyn is survived by her three sons, Randy Boeholt and wife Beth; Bryan Boeholt, wife Nathalie and son Remi; and Darren Boeholt with wife Jenny, daughter Bailey and son Brenin.

Marilyn was totally involved with family. She loved decorating the house for all the holidays and looking forward to making family birthdays, holidays and Christmas special for everyone.

Marilyn touched countless lives with music. She started teaching accordion at a local music store, Aub Schmidt music, and then went on to teach private piano, organ and banjo lessons in her home until 2004 when she retired. Marilyn was always proud of giving the lifelong gift of music to her students. Along the way she played in several bands, the Generation Gap (1968-1978), Electric Park Dixieland Jazz Band (1985-1995) and the Grays Harbor Banjo Band (1968-present).

Outside of family and music she enjoyed cooking, entertaining, gardening, travel and sailing.

Marilyn will be missed by all that knew her.

A private family service was held and cremation was entrusted to Fern Hill Funeral Home.

No formal celebration is planned at this time.
