Marian D. Salme, a longtime Willapa Valley resident, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at home.

Marian D. Salme, a longtime Willapa Valley resident, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at home. She was 91. Marian was born on June 9, 1928, in Willapa, Washington, to George and Mildred Clements.

Marian married Swede Sandquist in 1946 and they had two children, Linda and Gary. She married Bryan Salme in 1955 and together they had a son, Brett. Bryan later adopted Linda and Gary. Bryan and Marian owned and operated Bry-Mar Cleaners in Raymond for many years.

Marian was a member of the Willapa United Methodist Church and Ladies Aide, Valley Booster Club and the Willapa Harbor Ladies Golf Club.

Bryan and Marian enjoyed traveling and vacationing. She had a love for the game of golf. She was also an avid gardener and had a passion for hard work.

After Bryan’s passing in 1984, Marian still enjoyed traveling with her 20+ year companion, Irv Stephens. Africa, Mexico and many trips to Homer, Alaska to name a few. They also traveled the U.S. in their motorhome.

Marian is survived by her longtime companion, Irv Stephens, of East Raymond; a daughter, Linda (Lonny) Kvinsland of Port Townsend, a son, Gary (Teena) Salme of Mill Creek, and a son, Brett (Nancy) Salme of Willapa; two brothers, Gene (Alice) Clements of Menlo and Jerry (Darlene) Clements of East Raymond. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Don (Darlene) Clements of Raymond.

At this time, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make donations to Willapa United Methodist Church c/o Ladies Aide.
