Margit Aileen (Long) Rustvold passed away at 69 years of age of an aggressive form of cancer on Aug. 29, 2017. She was born in Aberdeen to Robert J. Long and Aileen Rath Long. Margit leaves three loving sisters, Diane (Peter) Dawson of Dallas, Texas, Janet (Mike) Krulich, of Bloomington, Minn., and Mary Kathryn Long (James Wade) of Portland, Ore.
Margit attended Aberdeen High School, graduating in 1966. She received a B.A. degree from Central Washington University and an M.Ed. degree from Washington State University. Margit enjoyed 39 years of teaching in the Evergreen Public Schools in Vancouver.
Margit was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. She and her husband, Daryle, spent time at Cannon Beach and traveled the U.S. to see family. Margit visited Europe in 1971, and met Norwegian relatives. Spending time with her family meant the most to her.
Margit is survived by her husband of 39 years, Daryle Rustvold of Vancouver, Wash., and her two daughters, Tina Smith of Fife, Wash., and Marion (Matt) Lansdon of Vancouver, Wash. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to six grandchildren. She always remembered her loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and godchildren.
Margit was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Aileen Long, of Aberdeen, and her grandchild, Colin Lansdon.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m., St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Vancouver.
