On March 6, 2021, Loretta Mae Schweitzer of Hoquiam, Washington, passed away peacefully at age 73 after a brief illness and a long-term case of kidney failure. She was born on March 25, 1947, in Batchtown, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Zelora Downard as well as her loving husband Donald J. Schweitzer.
Loretta cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by many and always met people with open arms for a big hug. She had a smile for everyone, even strangers on the street would be met with her smile. She enjoyed board games, dice and cards. Loretta had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and talked of the day that she would go to heaven to be with the Lord and see her husband and parents in Heaven.
Loretta is survived by her sisters: Donna McBride of Grayland, Washington, Barbara Johnson of Raymond, Washington and Diana Jones of Raymond, Washington; brother James M. Downard of Raymond, Washington; son Rickey Arthur and daughter-in-law Serena Arthur of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Kim Berman and son-in-law Ron Berman of Plumas Lake, California; daughter Leilani Berman and son-in-law Richard Berman of Hoquiam, Washington; stepson Joe Schweitzer and daughter-in-law Felicia Schweitzer of Logan, Ohio; stepdaughter Helen Levee Schweitzer and son-in-law Darrell Levee of Tacoma, Washington; as well as 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
