Lionel Albert Brown, former professor at GHC, passed away on June 28, 2021, in Aberdeen.

Lionel Albert Brown, 88, Aberdeen resident and former professor at Grays Harbor College, passed away on June 28, 2021, at Harbor Regional Medical in Aberdeen, Washington.

Lionel was born on June 4, 1933, in Portland, Oregon to Floyd and Benietta (Porin) Brown. He served in the United States Army. He got his MA from the University of Oregon in sociology and archeology. He spent time in Nebraska on several archaeological expeditions and was also a proud member of the Nebraska Admirals Association. He was a Professor Emeritus at Grays Harbor College from September of 1968 and continued until June of 1998 when he retired.

On March 27, 1998, Lionel married Francis E. Redington in Idaho. She resides in Aberdeen.

He loved to read and research, science and astrology being some of his favorite subjects. In his later years he enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife, Frannie, in the winter. He also loved spending time with his Maine Coon cat, Norman.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Francis Brown of Aberdeen; a stepson, Steven Jacobson of Cosmopolis; a stepdaughter, Susie Jacobson of Montesano; and grandchildren: Cole and Carley Bradbury.

Services will be arranged at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
