Lin Leanne Butler, 59, an Aberdeen resident passed away on Sept. 3, 2022, at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, Washington.

Lin was born on Feb. 11, 1963, in Roslindale, Massachusetts to parents Herschel Morrison and Lois Morrison-Flack. (nee Fesko). Lin had two sisters, and while she was young, the family moved to Modesto, California. Lin graduated from Beyer High School in 1980. Shortly after graduation she attended Modesto Junior College and schools in San Diego and elsewhere to obtain multiple certificates in alternative health practices.

During and after studies, Lin worked as an emergency dispatcher for the college. she met Kermit Butler in high school, and was reunited with him by happenstance. They married in 1991 in Modesto.

Over the years the couple moved to Groveland, California, and the Oregon cities of Hillsboro and Portland before arriving at their permanent home in Aberdeen. Lin held a variety of occupations before becoming too severely disabled.

Lin was a member of the Baha’i faith community in Modesto, Portland and Aberdeen. She was also a member of the SIGHT group for the visually impaired for 15 years. Lin’s interests and hobbies included emergency management and disaster preparedness, among myriad others. She attended meetings around the community, participating in training and seminars.

She had an absolute love of life, and she met every challenge head on, moving through it. She used her skills and her abilities to help others in need. She also enjoyed socializing, gardening and animals, especially her cats.

Lin is survived by her husband, Kermit Butler of Aberdeen; her parents Herschel Morrison and Lois Morrison-Flack of Modesto; her sisters Jessica Carlisle Roush of Modesto and LaNell Silverstein of Texas; various aunts, uncles, cousins and friends across the country.

No services are scheduled. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
