Lester M. Johnson, age 99, a resident of Montesano, went to be with his Lord on July 20, 2021. He was born on Feb. 12, 1922, to Fred and Bertha Johnson in North Bend, Wisconsin. The family moved to Grays Harbor when Lester was a young man.

He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII from 1942 to 1946. On his return, he worked in Aberdeen for Aberdeen Plywood, Grays Harbor Chair Factory and The National Guard where from which he retired from the maintenance department.

In 1960, he and Josephine Ross were married in Aberdeen.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and camping with his wife and family. He was an avid Mariners and Seahawks fan.

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Shirley Middleton (Ken); stepsons: Donald Ross (Gean) and Richard Ross (Solly); brother, Orrin Johnson (Charlotte) and sister Janice Frafjord. He is preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; parents; brothers: Harvey, Vern and Arnold Johnson; and his sister Eileen Hubbard.

There will be a celebration of life at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021, at the Montesano Assembly of God Church. An urn committal will be at the Wynoochee Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
