Leo “Joe” Joseph Bordeaux Jr., 87, of Grapeview, Washington, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Jan. 30, 2020.

Leo “Joe” Joseph Bordeaux Jr., 87, of Grapeview, Washington, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Jan. 30, 2020. Joe was born in 1932 in Tacoma, Washington. He attended St Martin’s College and the University of Puget Sound. He served in the United States Army and was deployed to the Korean War. Joe met and married Barbara Lee Ollsen in 1958 and they spent the next 61 years together. Joe and Barb had four daughters, Celeste, Cindy, Suzanne and Ann, who they raised in Westport Washington. Joe was a man of many talents. He was an entrepreneur who pursued many things. He was the owner/operator of Western Charters, Bordeaux Construction, a real estate brokerage, owner of a restaurant, motel, gift shop and boutique. He enjoyed many hobbies, including tennis, showing horses, classic car restoration, boating, salmon fishing, clam digging and so much more. Joe and Barb retired to Mason Lake in 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, brother Jim Bordeaux, his four daughters Celeste, Cindy, Suzanne and Ann; three sons-in-law, Forrest Strickland, Bob Schempp, Matt Harschfeld; grandchildren Kelsey Morgan, Joseph Hegge, Jacob Hegge, Megan Strickland, Robbie Strickland, Josh Schempp, Heidi Harschfeld, great-granddaughter Chloe Morgan and one great-grandson on the way. Joe also has a large extended and loving family and many friends. Joe loved spending time with his family and friends at Mason Lake. Joe was a great mentor to all. He made a difference in the lives of so many, and we will miss him greatly.

A service will be held at St Edwards Catholic Church, 601 W. C Street, Shelton, WA 98584 on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020 at 11 a.m. A celebration of life will follow at the parish hall.
