Larry Lee Wood, 74, Cosmopolis resident and former janitor at the Aberdeen Elks

Larry Lee Wood, 74, Cosmopolis resident and former janitor at the Aberdeen Elks and Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Alder House in South Bend, Washington.

Larry was born on July 3, 1945, in Portland, Oregon, to Curtis and Margaret (Virell) Wood. He grew up at Rockaway Beach and Tillamook, Oregon. He then moved to Ridgefield, Washington, where he graduated from Ridgefield High School.

Larry went to work at Columbia Box in Portland. In 1980, Larry moved to Cosmopolis, where he worked as a janitor and later washing cars for Five Star Dealerships in Aberdeen.

On July 3, 1983, Larry married Heather Elisabeth Watson in Aberdeen. She later passed away on Dec. 7, 1994.

Larry was a member of Toastmasters. He loved his cars, collecting tools, going to church at Immanuel Baptist, United Christian and Aberdeen Seventh-day Adventist churches.

Larry is survived by a brother Richard Wood of Portland, Oregon; three sisters: Janice (Jim) Ellsworth of Cosmopolis, Darlene (Jim) Holtgreive of Washougal, Washington, and Shirley (Jeff) Huyler of Jacksonville, Florida.

There will be a celebration of Larry’s life on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. in the United Christian Church, 300 W. First St., Aberdeen.

Larry will be inurned with his wife Heather at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, Washington.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
