Kenneth Lavern Otterstetter, 75, of Westport passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. Kenneth was born August 8, 1944, in Forbes, North Dakota, to Wilbert and Edna (Waltz) Otterstetter.
He was raised in Ellendale, North Dakota, and graduated from Ellendale High School in 1962.
On March 11, 1964, Kenneth married the love of his life, Carol Hauff, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Kenneth had lived in Garden City, Kansas, and Tacoma, Washington, before moving to Westport in 1971.
In 2012, Kenneth retired from Westport Shipyard after working there for 42 years. He had also worked at a boat repair shop in Tacoma from 1969-1971.
Ken was preceded in death by mother and father, Wilbert and Edna Otterstetter, brother, Gilbert Otterstetter. He is survived by his wife, Carol Otterstetter, sons, Todd Otterstetter (wife Linda), Kevin Otterstetter (wife Deena), daughters, Connie Cordova and Kim Otterstetter (husband Shane), eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, three brothers, Virgil, Wesley and Terry Otterstetter and a sister, Sharon Kresse.
Kenneth had been a volunteer firefighter in Grayland. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and motorcycles, riding quads at Oregon’s sand dunes and going on long road trips with Carol (with him driving).
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
