Kelly Jean (Hume) Anderson was born Dec. 3, 1969. Kelly passed away peacefully on Jan. 15, 2024 after her long battle with Cancer.

She is survived by her son, Max Anderson (Fernanda), her daughter Emma Anderson, her parents Mike and Arlene Hume Sr. and Mike and Shari Hatley, her brothers Mike Hume Jr. (Sue) and Steve Hume (Connie), her Grandfather Ross Crass and many aunts, uncles, cousins nieces, nephews and friends.

Kelly graduated from Montesano High School in 1989 and went on to receive two Bachelor’s of Arts degrees from Washington State University, and later her Master’s Degree from Lesley University.

Kelly was a fierce fighter for all of the causes she believed in. She made it her goal to sign up as many people to register to vote as possible and succeeded in signing up hundreds of people. Kelly had a heart to help immigrants get an education. She taught Adult Basic Education, Anger Management & Victims Awareness classes for Gray’s Harbor College at Stafford Creek Correctional Center for many years. She then taught ABE at Green River Community College and ended her career at Wenatchee Valley Community College setting up and teaching the State’s A-21 program, helping hundreds of students receive their High School Diploma during her tenure.

Kelly was proud to be one of the founding members of the Wenatchee Indivisible group. She loved cold water swimming — even in the freezing temperatures and was a member of Wild Wenatchee Swimmers and encouraged many to join. Kelly got to complete many adventures on her “Bucket List” with family and friends after her diagnosis, including riding a camel in Egypt; skydiving; a hot-air balloon ride; whitewater rafting; garage sale-ing; antiquing and many fun camping trips.

She loved her “fur babies” Jackson, Sandy and “granddog” Tucker and could be found cuddling with them at every opportunity. Kelly enjoyed entertaining and was admired for her decorating flair. She touched so many lives while sharing her cancer journey in several groups that she belonged to, along with posting on her Facebook page. We lost her way too soon and she will be eternally missed, but Kelly will live on forever in our hearts.
