Kelly Duane Colten Sr., 50, lifetime Aberdeen resident and timber faller, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash.
Kelly was born on July 13, 1967, in Aberdeen to Eugene E. and Vicki L. (Wilson) Colten. He attended Aberdeen schools and went into the timber industry at an early age. He enjoyed the great outdoors and falling timber in Washington and Alaska for a select few companies. It was said that if he wasn’t falling trees, he could be found either hunting or fishing. The outdoors was his home.
He had married Dana Mumper in 1991, but they later divorced.
Kelly is survived by his son Kelly D. Colten Jr. of Montesano; his parents, Eugene and wife Diane Colten of Choteau, Mont. and his mother Vicki Anderson of Montesano; brothers: Marc (Katrine) Colten of Aberdeen, Tim Colten of Tenino, Jeremy Anderson of South Dakota and Jeff Anderson of Grayland; a sister Sheila Colten of Fairfield, Mont.
A memorial service will take place later
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Wash.
