Keith Allen Knox went home with Jesus on June 8, 2023. He was 79 years old.

He was born on Aug. 25, 1943, to Ardella and Wesley Knox in Denver, Colorado.

Besides his parents, Keith was preceded in death by brothers, Dale, Bub, Steve and Vincent. The remaining siblings are one brother Nolan and one sister, Cindy Lay, both of Denver.

Keith married Alice Hausfeld in 1963, and later divorced in 1992. Two children were born to their marriage, Brian of Port Townsend, preceded in death in 2022 and Tamara L Herring of Shelton. Two grandchildren, Jacob Herring and Kayleigh Smith, both of Shelton. He has one great-grandchild, Brayden.

After 32 years of service in the Bremerton Naval Shipyard he moved to Grays Harbor where he met and married Louise Cummings of Aberdeen in 1994. Prior to moving to Bremerton, he served 10 years in the U.S. Navy and worked for two years at the U.S. Mint in Denver.

Keith loved to cook, which started when he was very young, along with his cousin Barbara helping his aunt with her catering business. He went on to earn his associate degree in culinary arts.

For 17 years Keith served as co-director of junior high kids alongside of his good friend Rona Schroeder at Camp Bethel, Copalis, Washington. He continued with the camp as a cook for retreats and other kids’ camps. During this time, he also was a member of the Harbor Haylofters Square Dancers where he enjoyed camping and traveling with friends to other cities for dances.

He was a member of the Hoquiam First Baptist Church and served on the board as a deacon and a clerk.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Hoquiam First Baptist Church on Eklund Ave.
