On Feb. 21, 2018, A. Kathleen Lake (Dawkins) went peacefully home to be with God and the love of her life. Kathleen died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, in Nampa, Idaho. She was 87.
Kathleen was born Jan. 4, 1931, to Lula Pearl (Knight) Dawkins and Lonnie Dawkins in Stuart, Okla. She was one of 12 kids. Kathleen was the last surviving sibling, and I am sure there was a joyous reunion waiting for her when she arrived home.
At 15 Kathleen married Lawrence Lake and they had two children, Linda Lake and Lawrence Lake. Kathleen has seven grandchildren, Jeanette (Bresee) Mainord (Jon), Tom Bresee (deceased), Lawrence Cole (Karen), Rebecca (Lake) Rivas (Daniel), Jenifer Lake, Elizabeth (Lake) Krocker (Charlie), and Joe Lake and numerous great-grandchildren.
Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always there to take care of her family. Over the years Kathleen worked odd jobs, waitressing, doing office work in a charter office, a cannery and even sold fresh crabs on the side of the road briefly.
Kathleen was an active member of her church. She was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
A simple graveside service is being held at Fern Hill Cemetery at 10 a.m. on March 1.
