Kathleen (Coady) McLaughlin passed away on May 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a heroic battle with cancer.
Kathleen was born in August 1958 in Aberdeen, Washington to parents Denny and Shirley Coady. She grew up in the Wishkah Valley where she graduated high school. Throughout her life, Kathleen had many varying careers to include being the first female officer to join the Aberdeen Police Force, project coordinator for Braun Northwest, and a real estate broker for First Harbor Real Estate.
Kathleen had many hobbies. She loved knitting, crocheting, and quilting. She loved to read and enjoyed camping at the Wynoochee Dam. Kathleen was an animal lover and surrounded herself with pets she adopted from various places. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.
Kathleen is survived by her mother Shirley Coady, husband Barry; her daughter Courtney Shipp, her husband Andrew and their children, Tayven and Saige; stepdaughters Linda Baxter, her husband Craig and their son Dylan; and Jasmine McLaughlin, her partner Travis, and son Elijah.
Siblings Carol White, Brenda Johnson, and Roy Coady also survive Kathleen.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at Wishkah Valley Community Church Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1 p.m. with fellowship, coffee, and dessert to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in her memory to the American Cancer Society or Feline Friends of Olympia.
