Karen Yvonne (Cain) Amsbury passed away Oct. 18, 2016, at her home surrounded by family and friends after living a life of lupus and a short bout of cancer. Karen was born on Oct. 23, 1943, in Elma, Wash., to Herbert and Loretta Cain. She grew up in Elma and spent a few of her late teen years in Sitka, Alaska.

Karen met her husband, Clifford Amsbury, on a Greyhound bus and married shortly after. They had two children, Darrell Amsbury of Humptulips and the late Cheryl Dombroski of Hoquiam. The couple then built their perfect home in Humptulips. In this home they took in many family members and friends. They had their own farm and always welcomed the stray animals. Both Karen and Clifford lived the rest of their lives together in that home.

With Clifford passing in May of 2016 his wife Karen just needed to follow him home.

They are survived by son Darrell Amsbury and son-in-law Kenneth (Cheryl) Dombroski. Along with four grandchildren Jason (Jenna) Amsbury of Elma, Mitchell Amsbury of Aberdeen, Phalisha of Lacey and Justine Dombroski of Aberdeen; and nine great-grandchildren.

Karen loved the outdoors and took pride in her camping and fishing skills. She and Clifford were also very dedicated members of the Humptulips Fire Department.

If Karen wasn’t at home she was either with her daughter playing bingo or devoting her time to help the small community of Humptulips.

Her passing has greatly impacted all of her family and friends.

A service to celebrate Karen’s life will be held at the Humptulips Valley Church on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, from Noon-3 p.m.

Harrison Family Mortuary is honored to assist the family. To share a memory or express condolences, visit www.harrisonfamilymortuary.com.
