Joye Easterly passed away peacefully at Puget Sound Healthcare on June 3, 2024. She was 83 years old.
She was born on July 5th, 1940, in Aberdeen, Washington to parents William Auer and Monica “Jean” Rand-Auer. She attended A J West Elementary, Miller Junior High School, and graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, Washington in 1958. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart, Rich. Joye and Rich were married on Nov. 25, 1961 and would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary this year.
Joye was a stay-at-home mom until her daughters started to attend elementary school. She was employed with the Aberdeen School District at A J West Elementary working as a para-educator until she retired in 2003.
Joye enjoyed doing many different activities during her years of life. She and her husband Rich were the proud owners of a 1951 Chevrolet Sedan and loved to cruise around with The Lug Nuts car group. She enjoyed going to breakfast with her friends and was an avid pinochle player, especially playing the game with her sisters. Joye also was a fan of the Mariners and the Seahawks, never missing a game.
She loved to travel, especially to places such as Hawaii, Mexico, Washington D.C., San Diego, and Alaska. Joye and Rich would hop in their car and go for leisurely drives to Tokeland, Ocean Shores, Westport, and many other places just to get out and enjoy various locations in the Pacific Northwest.
Joye is preceded in death by her husband Rich, parents William and Jean Auer, sister Bonnie Hathaway, and grandson, Cameron Philamalee.
She is survived by her daughters Tami (Sonny) Philamalee and Susie Kingsolver; sisters Betty Watson and Nancy Rogers; grandchildren Aric Philamalee (fiance, Aubrey Crapo); Brittney (Gavin) Baker; Addison Kingsolver; great-grandsons, Levi and Carter Baker and great-granddaughter, Piper Baker, and many nieces and nephews.
An inurnment will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Cosmopolis, Washington. All who wish to attend are invited to do so. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.
