Joseph H. Lorton, age 49, a lifetime Washington resident and enrolled member of the Quinault Indian Nation, passed away on Nov. 21, 2020, in his Aberdeen home. He was born in South Bend, Washington, on Dec. 22, 1970, to Joseph and Rebecca Lorton.
Joe attended school in North Beach and graduated from Aberdeen High School. He continued his education in automotive school in Arizona.
Joe’s passion was working on cars. He worked for Norm Huletz for nearly 25 years in the Seattle area until he wanted to move closer to home. He always continued to work on friends’ and family’s cars. He also worked as a fisherman for “Uncle” Norman Heath for many seasons on the bay.
In addition to working on cars, he loved cooking. His partner Jassen Alderman and Joe hosted many holiday and Seahawk parties for friends and family. His best friend, “Johnny” John Jimenez, spent many hours playing pool and video games.
He was kind and compassionate — always willing to help others at the drop of a hat. Losing him is felt deeply by so many because he touched so many lives. He will live forever in our hearts, and in the actions we take to love one another the way Joe loved us.
Survivors include his partner, Jassen Alderman; sister Tonya Lorton Schwen; brothers Percy and Paul Heath; nieces: Monica Schwen, Tiffany Lorton, Tonya, Jackalyn and Jazira Heath; and nephew William Lorton Jr. His extended family includes his dogs, China and Harley.
He was preceded by his father, Joseph Lorton; mother Rebecca Heath; dad Jack Heath and brother William Lorton.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date due to restrictions of COVID.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington 98550.
