John was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Montesano to Mike and Angela (Drazich) Jasper. He was the youngest of seven children. The family moved to Wishkah Valley when John was very young and then to Aberdeen where he attended school, graduating in 1949. After graduation, he worked for his brother-in-law, Harold Proctor, learning the painting trade. He then went to work for McCullough Painters, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed painting and wall paper hanging and took much pride in his work. He belonged to Local #526 where he worked as Financial Secretary for many years.

He was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed the fact that he and his grandson, Jon, bowled together on the same team for many years. He was voted into Bowlers Hall of Fame in 2002-2003. In his younger days, he enjoyed being active in shuffle board leagues, hunting, fishing and camping with his grandsons. He was also a life member of Aberdeen Eagles.

Before becoming a member of South Aberdeen Baptist Church, he spent many, many hours helping to finish the inside work in the Fellowship Hall. He later became a member and as a Trustee, worked countless hours cleaning, painting, maintenance work and ground work and truly enjoyed it.

In 1951, he married Glenda McOmber. They made their home in Aberdeen, living in the same house since 1954. She survives him at the family home. Also surviving, are daughters Cindy (Cliff) Jez and Linda (Jim) Jones, six grandsons Jonathan (Kesha) Jasper, Alex (Kerri) Wade, Tyler Wade, David Jones, Christopher (Brandy) Jez, Caleb Jez and step-granddaughter Karinna (Michael) Ianello, five great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters; sister-in-law Betty (Bud) Restau, Gloria (Bob) Benson and many nieces and nephews. Proceeding him in death are his parents; four sisters and two brothers.

John loved his family and friends. He enjoyed telling a good story that made us laugh.
