John David Aarhaus (born 6/27/1953) died March 21,2023 at the age of 69 from complications of Type 1 Diabetes.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Agnes Aarhaus. He is survived by his adoring wife Kathy, their children BeLinda and Scott, and his sister Kathryn.
John was a kind and honest man who always cherished family. As a kid, he loved family gatherings, especially the ones that were in the summer. He was an excellent swimmer and enjoyed boating and being on the water.
He graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen in 1973. After high school, he worked for Mayr Brothers. He purchased a house in Central Park where he and his wife Kathy raised their family. After he and Kathy retired, they moved to Aberdeen. It was a wonderful move for them: they were able to be closer to her family and to walk more places including the United Christian Church. Kathy was nervous to go there the first time because it was Easter Sunday and she felt they didn’t have the dressy clothes for the occasion. They quickly learned that the focus of their new church was kindness and celebrating God’s love.
Kathy and John had an unwavering love, respect, and support of one another. Together they raised a grandchild when parents were not able. They often went to John’s parents home on Sundays so that John and his dad could watch the Seahawks games together. John was an avid fan of both the Seahawks and Mariners.
During their later years, John and Kathy were grateful for the support their daughters have given them. They have also received loving support and kindness through their church and congregation. John lived life with his faith: “Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” Psalm 23.
A service is planned for a later date.
