Jody Lynn Rosenkrantz—beloved wife, daughter, sister and friend passed away at the age of 64 on Nov. 10, 2018, in Tucson, Ariz. with her husband, Brett, and long-time friend, Islonda, by her side.
Born in Aberdeen, Wash., Jody was the second child of Oscar and Jackie Rosenkrantz. Jody spent her childhood in Aberdeen, graduating from Aberdeen High School in 1972. She continued her education at the University of Washington where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, leaving to attend the Dental Hygiene program at Shoreline Community College. She graduated with a degree in Dental Hygiene and worked as a dental hygienist for many years before going back to UW, where she was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology. Jody landed a research position at the UW, but later returned to working as a hygienist.
Jody lived in the Lake Union area of Seattle for more than 30 years while working for a number of Seattle area dentists, most recently for Dr. Jerome Murphy, and enjoyed exploring the outdoors, including skiing, hiking and wind surfing. Always seeking new experiences, Jody discovered a passion for Zydeco dancing and became ingrained in the dance community. It was through Zydeco, that she met her future husband, Brett Ragar, whom she married in 2008. In 2015, she moved with her husband and close friend, Islonda Brown, to Tucson, Ariz.
Jody was a fun-loving sister and friend who loved to travel internationally and explore different cultures. Some of her favorite vacation spots were the Caribbean, Hawaii and Tucson.
Jody was predeceased by her mother, Jackie Rosenkrantz. She is survived by her husband, Brett Ragar. She is also survived by her father, Oscar Rosenkrantz; her sisters Jill Rosenkrantz (Jay), Julie DuBois (Greg) and brother Bill Rosenkrantz (Dana); nieces Sarah, Brooke and Charlotte and nephews Ben and Brandon and her close friend, Islonda Brown.
A service was held at Temple Beth Hatfiloh Historic Cemetery (within Masonic Memorial Park) on Nov. 19. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (alzadn.org) or the Tucson Jewish Community Center (tucsonjcc.org).
