JoAnn Mae Houston, 77, of Westport, Wash. died peacefully on Nov. 8, 2017, in Davenport, Iowa.

JoAnn Mae Houston, 77, of Westport, Wash. died peacefully on Nov. 8, 2017, in Davenport, Iowa.

JoAnn was born Dec. 30, 1939, in Yakima, Wash. to Floyd and Alice Lindsay.

She married Robert Houston in 1985. He preceded her in death in 2001.

JoAnn was active in Eastern Star, Amaranth, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed arts and crafts, shopping and traveling. She was an Art Teacher and lived on the island of Guam, where she taught for four years. Her favorite vacations were in Las Vegas. But her one true love was owning and operating The Knotty Pine Tavern in Westport for 27 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her five children, Bonnie (Robert) Duncan of Anchorage, Alaska, Pamela (Justin) Maddox of Spokane Valley, Wash., Brenda (Timothy) Kemp of Edwardsville, Ill., Scott (Jillian) Geary of Davenport, Iowa, and Debra Vail of Vancouver, Wash. She had 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Marianne (Bill) DuBay of Vancouver, Wash., Barbara (Larry) Andrews of Woodburn, Ore. and Carrol Rayson of Oregon City, Ore.

Per her wishes, she was cremated and her ashes were buried in Ellensburg, Wash. near family. There will be a celebration of her life on April 28, 2018, at Westport VFW Youth Center at 2 p.m. Please join us as we celebrate mom’s life.
